Film and Documentary
An IDEAL PDX Documentary“The Journey of a Mural”
Eight Latino artists from IDEAL PDX, a Portland-based artist collective, were invited to create history by painting a mural inside the Portland Art Museum. What began as a collaboration grew into a powerful movement, one that continues to inspire. This short documentary follows their journey as the mural finds its permanent home at La Plaza Esperanza.
Nature, inc.
Nature, Inc is an abstract montage about industry's affect on the planet. Stock footage mixed with shots of ink over a dandelion in water, filmed with a Panasonic G7 with a 35mm CCTV lens, and a Canon 80D with an old FD Vivitar 75-205mm. Lighting was two flashlights and a LED portable work light. Food coloring, avocado oil, and milk created the ink.
Confessions of the Heart (Excerp from The Tell-Tale Heart)
An homage to Nightcrawler and The Tell-Tale Heart. Shot on a Lumix G9 with a Buhl ultra-wide angle projector lens ("Wrenwell") on a focal reducer.
"The Purple Tree" Shadow Puppets
The Purple Tree is a handcrafted shadow puppet short based on a story I wrote years ago.
Originally begun as a digital animation in Adobe Flash and After Effects, this version simplifies the tale into stark silhouettes and gentle movements. In a world of black and white, the only color that exists is the forbidden fruit of a mysterious purple tree.
The story follows a curious child whose wonder leads them to break the laws of their land by tasting the fruit, setting off a quiet but profound shift. Told entirely through cut paper and light, this reimagined version speaks to the tension between curiosity and control, and the courage it takes to question what we’ve been told not to touch.
Is there anyone left in the world? With depleting resources a solitary man struggles to find out.
This project was a collaboration with Sean McCann years ago, when we had access to huge building for a day before it was being repurposed.
